Welcome to the Rho Chi Omega website!

Greetings,
The Moving Spirit of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Ethel Hedgeman Lyle was a junior at Howard University in Washington D.C. when she gave birth to the idea of a sorority. On January 15, 1908, the first African American sorority for college trained women Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was born to serve all mankind. One hundred and nine years later we proudly continue to serve all mankind.
Rho Chi Omega Chapter was established on July 29, 1989, in Madison, Alabama to continue the legacy. We would like for you to get to know our great organization by perusing our website. Rho Chi Omega is located in the Sophisticated South Eastern Region. We are committed to the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s programs of service. The 2014-2018 International Program focuses on Launching New Dimensions of Service. As we move into the "second half" of Launching New Dimensions (2016-2018) we will continue to remain focused. As members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, we will address community needs with programs in five target areas: Educational Enrichment, Health Promotion, Family Strengthening, Environmental Ownership and Global Impact.
Rho Chi Omega has launched a motto of “Pearls that S.O.A.R”. Pearls Soaring to new and uncharted heights with unlimited potential:
S - Seeking to serve all mankind through selflessness
O - Optimizing our originality through outreach, works, and deeds
A - Affirming the approved initiatives through accomplishments and time honored dedication
R - Reinforcing the resolve of our founding sisters through retention, love, work, and service.
I invite you to follow us through this website as we continue to strive and adhere to the vision of our twenty founders and promote and live our mission of service to all mankind. We have placed information here to inform and educate the community about our awesome and dynamic chapter, community service and events in Madison City, Madison and Morgan Counties.
